Blow To P1 Teachers Without CBC Training Certificate Ahead Of Mass Recruitment.The Teachers Service Commission (Tsc ) has laid foundation to expunge P1 teachers Without Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) Training Certificate from recruitment.
In the recent published scoresheet,TSC has awarded 10 marks to all P1 teachers with evidence of CBC training certificates.

Additionally,TSC has announced plans to scrap off PTE certificate as the minimum requirement for entry into the teaching service following a plan document tagged ‘Framework on entry requirement in the teaching service’

According to teachers employer,it has been replaced with diploma which is in line with Competency Based Curriculum.
Further,the commission says,for a teacher need to have Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) .
Currently,the minimum TSC entry qualifications into teaching in Kenya at all levels is Diploma in education.
The commission indicated that it will recognise post-training upgrade certificates for teachers who have completed SNE,DIP ED,ECDE, PTE, DTE BED.
In this teacher will be allowed to teach in grade 1-3 and 4-6 in both indigenous and local Languages.
At least 229,00 P1 teachers are updating their skills in various Teacher Training Colleges, (TTCs) according to TSC data .
P1 instructors who were hoping the Commission would hire them without upgrading their Primary Teacher Education (PTE) qualifications were dealt a setback by these most recent proposals ahead of mass recruitment.

In July last year,TSC gave priorities who upgrade their to degrees without CBC certificates since training was not yet over .
In the new scoresheet 2023 released this january,TSC awards 10 Marks to teachers with Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) .
Unlike previous recruitment where only intern teachers were awarded 10 marks,this year’s exercise will see all p1 teachers with CBC certificates being awarded.
Some of the agents have hinted that the TSC will stop the employment of P1 teacher in 2024 and that those who are yet to upgrade should join.
