Grade Seven Students Will Take 23 Sets Of Subjects. According to ministry of education latest school calender,all students including those joining junior secondary will resume learning on January 23rd ,2023.
After months of confusion and tension to parents and Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) Pioneer class who sat their grade six exams,the government cleared air by giving firm clarifications on its transition.

The president working party has revealed that junior secondary will be Domiciled in approved and registered primary schools.

Latest data from Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) has reaffirmed that grade seven students will take 23 subjects.
KICD further says students will pick 14 different subjects with English and Mathematics being compulsory subjects.

Additionally, students will pick 10 subjects that are mandatory.They include .
- Agriculture
- Kiswahili
- Life skills education
- Health education
- Integrated science
- Pre-technical studies
- Physical education
- Sports
- Religious Studies
- Business studies
Optional Subjects In the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) Includes:-
- Performing Arts and Visual Arts
- Computer Science
- Home Science
- German
- French
- Indigenous Languages
- Mandarin
- Arabics.
KICD insists that the main features of junior secondary level is a broad curriculum for the learner to explore abilities,talents and interests before selecting pathways into Senior secondary education levels.
Grade six exams (KPSEA) will be released on 16th January,2023 and results will be sent to all schools portals.Junior secondary is set to have their own principals ,board of management (BOM) and own staff by 2024 .
As per the ministry of education,Students will also have different uniforms to differentiate them from their colleagues in lower classes.Only schools with over 45 students will have junior secondary section,Those with few will be combined together.
Students in junior secondary will get government capitation per child as is presently done for other high school learners in the country.
A lot of questions have emerged over the guidelines, infrastructure and teachers utilisation as time ticks towards reopening of schools.
