According to reports tabled by CS Machogu , quite a number of schools received more than 100,000 applicants , quite an abnormal figure as compared to numbers a school can admit.
“It is now evident that these learners did not receive proper guidance when selecting schools of their choice. This is the reason as to why such astonishing numbers are witnessed” Cs Machogu said.
Most of these schools that received applications are national and prestigious schools. Most learners picked the schools out of peer pressure, learning that their friends have also selected the school.
The Education CS asked teachers, parents and other involved parties to ensure in future that they guide pupils well before selecting schools to avoid such abnormal numbers.
Kabianga High School was the topmost preferred school for a majority of 2022 KCPE candidates.
A total of 153, 074candidates selected it yet the institution has only 768 capacity in form one.
