Teacher recruits.The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the newly recruited 35,550 teachers will join the payroll on January 30, 2023.

Speaking during the release of the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results at Mitihani House on Friday, Teachers Service Commission (TSC) CEO Nancy Macharia stated that the TSC is committed to ensuring that all Junior Secondary School learners receive the best education possible.
“We (TSC) will provide guidelines on the teaching and administration of the Junior Secondary School as the students report shortly. We are recruiting 30,000 teachers; it is our intention for them to join the payroll on 30th January,” Macharia said.
To achieve this, the TSC has put in place a retooling regime for all teachers recruited, to ensure that they are adequately prepared to attend to the needs of students.
Macharia said that the TSC has already trained 2,376 teachers and plans to train an additional 90,000 teachers between now and April 2023.
In response to a nationwide tutoring shortage, President William Ruto’s education taskforce recommended hiring 30,000 new junior secondary teachers.
In early december, the TSC posted 35,550 job openings for teachers to work in primary and junior secondary schools
The employer stated in a notice that it has 9,000 permanent and pensionable positions open for secondary school teachers and an additional 1,000 for primary school tutors.
Additionally, TSC will hire another 4,000 interns for primary schools and 21,550 interns for junior secondary schools.

TSC Salary And Allowances For Intern Teachers 2023.
Intern Teachers are those contracted by Teachers Service commission(TSC)
They are recruited on merit based on tsc recruitment quidelines.
Inter teachers are paid less compared to their colleagues who are in permanent and Pensionable terms.
Annual funding for this purpose is provided by the Commission and it will remain unchanged. A special salary of Ksh 20,000 is paid to secondary school intern instructors.
The 20,000 is subjected to two deductions.Ksh 200.00 for the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) and Ksh 750.00 for the National Social Security Fund (NSSF). Amounting to Ksh.950.00.
