Deployment of P1 teachers by TSC.The Teacher Service Commission (TSC) has set forth requirements for the promotion of 36,000 teachers next week .

Hence, 7,282 of these teachers will be assigned to teach in junior secondary schools.
They will start their duties from next week .
“The country needs to know if there are any plans to promote teachers currently teaching in primary schools and deploy them to Junior Secondary Schools. And if yes, what is the number of tutors that will be elevated ?” posed the Committee Chairperson.
“TSC has through the verification of personal files; identified 7,282 primary school teachers with requisite qualifications to teach in secondary schools as eligible for deployment to Junior Secondary Schools,” responded Ms Macharia who was accompanied by the agency’s chairman Jamleck Muturi and other commissioners.

Therefore,To ensure that these teachers are adequately prepared to meet the needs of their students .
TSC has announced plans to retool them for their new roles.
This retooling is expected to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to handle the challenges of teaching Grade 7 pupils.
Further, Julius Olayo, the Director of Human Resource Management and Development at TSC, said retooling the teachers is to ensure they meet expected standards to effectively deliver their mandate.
Teachers Medical Cover Issues.
Malulu Injendi (Malava), the vice chair of the committee, questioned the commission earlier in the day about why teachers are required to pay when they visit hospitals despite having medical insurance.
“Why are teachers required to pay some fees when they seek medical care?” Hon. Malulu questioned, “Why should they pay?”
Co-paying is a common practice. Even the secretary pays a supplemental fee to visit hospitals. Tsc Boss replied.
Then, Teachers only pay Sh100 after a negotiation; everyone else is required to pay Sh500. If you ask me, this is fairly affordable,” Macharia added.
