TSC hiring of teachers.The Teachers Service Commission (TSC), which receives money from all government organizations and departments, will get a sizable Ksh 300.88 billion from the budget for the education sector in the 2023–2024 fiscal year (FY).This is a Ksh3.48 billion increase above the current budget.
OUTLINED EXPENDITURE POLICY
The draft 2023 budget policy statement states that Ksh 799 million is for capital expenditures, while Ksh 300.08 billion is for current expenses.
Teacher resource management will get a total of Ksh292 billion, of which Ksh 291.2 billion will go toward capital expenses and Ksh 718 million toward ongoing expenses.
On the other hand, Ksh1.17 billion in current expenses is for governance and standards. Its overall administration, planning, and support functions is covered by Ksh 7.70 billion.
Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u, National Treasury and Economic Planning Cabinet Secretary (CS), says that the government has given the TSC funding to hire 30,000 teachers in order to improve the teacher-to-student ratio in elementary and secondary schools.

TSC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Nancy Macharia stated that they want the new hires to be on the Commission’s payroll on January 30, 2023, the same day the Junior Secondary School (JSS) students will report to their respective schools during the release of the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in January 2023

According to TSC, all of the instructors it will hire undergo retooling program to make sure they can care for JSS students effectively.
Before the retooling exercise for all new teachers and others currently teaching in secondary schools, it had already trained 2,376 master trainers.
The Commission aims to train 90,000 teachers between January and April 2023.
Teachers made a number of demands in December of last year through their unions, chief among them the need to renegotiate the 2021–25 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) in order to add a financial component beginning in 2023.
