According to the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), the registration rate for the upcoming year, 2023, is considerably lower than in previous years.
This could be due to a myriad of reasons, such as financial constraints, academic difficulties, or a lack of motivation due to the pandemic.
However, the KNEC has reassured the public that the necessary measures are being taken to ensure that the upcoming examinations are conducted in a fair and just manner.
The KNEC boss Njengere has challenged all schools Heads to take the registration process seriously and avoid late hours rush.
Equally, he appealed to parents to take keen interest in registration of their kid’s registration of examination.
Njengere says that learners interests in sitting for this year’s national examinations have two months to register with the Examination Council.
‘‘With regard to registration of candidates for the 2023 KCPE and KCSE, KNEC opened the portal for institutions to commence uploading of candidates’ data from February 1 which will end on March 30, 2023,’’ Njengere said.
